Job description
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner who are ready to progress to operate at the level of a middle grade doctor working within agreed protocols and guidelines.
This role is a full time post with 70% split for clinical care and 30% for Education/SIM Lead role with opportunities to undertake research Quality Improvement work.
As part of this role we will offer the funding and support for post graduate study for a simulation course.

The ANNP crosses the clinical boundaries between nursing and medical care enabling them to take on the role and responsibilities formerly undertaken by junior medical staff and works independently with clinical supervision provided by a Consultant Neonatologist. This includes working single-handedly out of hours with telephone support from a Paediatric Consultant.
The 8b postholder will operate at the level of a middle grade doctor.
The ANNP works within the multidisciplinary team to deliver advanced clinical neonatal nursing and medical practice, education, audits, supports quality improvement projects and clinical leadership.
The post holder will use collaborative and independent judgement to assess, investigate, diagnose, plan, implement, manage and evaluate clinical nursing and medical care and management of babies.
The post holder will work within agreed UHSussex Trust / Unit protocols and guidelines, which include resuscitation, initiation of treatment including mechanical ventilation, ordering and administration of drugs and intravenous fluids.
The post holder will provide expert professional advice to junior medical and nursing staff, less experienced ANNPs and parents/carers in respect of the management of their sick baby.
