Job description

Established in 2007, Kingsland Nursery is an Ofsted approved setting which is registered to provide full day care for children between the ages of 0-5 years old. We open Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm for 51 weeks per year.

Our vision is to make top quality care and education accessible to children from a range of backgrounds in the local community.

The premises is located in the heart of Dalston and consists of seven rooms situated over five floors. Five rooms are for children’s use and the third floor houses the staff room and the nursery office

Purpose of the Role

1) To support the Room Leader in delivering a high quality of care and education for children throughout the setting in partnership with the staff team and parents.

2) To assist the Room Leader in facilitating the implementation of policies, procedures and activities.

3) To take an active role in the help improving operational practices in Kingsland Nursery.

4) To assist the Room Leader creating a stimulating learning environment which is appropriate for the development needs of the children.

5) To assume the role of Room Leader in the Room Leader’s absence

General Duties include:

1) Assist Nursery Staff in the implementation of Kingsland Nursery’s policies in line with current legal requirements, national policies and guidance on Health and safety, Safeguarding and promoting the well-being of children.

2) Working in partnership with the Room Leader to prepare and implement planned activities to meet children’s learning and development needs.

3) To take responsibility for the cleanliness and maintenance of the lunch rooms playrooms and equipment.

4) Providing a positive role model for children demonstrating exemplary friendliness, politeness and patience at all times.

5) Attendance of staff meetings as arranged by the Nursery Manager.

6) Any other duties appropriate to the post as directed by the Nursery Manager

Specific duties include:

a) Alerting the Room Leader of:

1.All personal concerns in relation to the development, care or safety of any child.

2. Any specific parent requests or any known changes in circumstances that would affect their child such as marital issues, new pregnancies, new partners etc.

b) Performing door duty (welcoming parents individually and politely when they drop off and collect their children) when directed by the Manager

c) Assisting the Room Leader with the set up and preparation of rooms and outdoor area in line with the weekly plan.

d) Implementation of planned activities as indicated by the daily plans.

e) Taking responsibility for nappy changes and maintenance of the corresponding log sheet.

f) Performing Key Worker duties for a selection of children as directed by the Nursery Manager.

Part-time hours: 40.00 per week

Salary: £24,500.00-£28,500.00 per year
