The National Rehabilitation Centre (NRC) will be a new, purpose-built 70-bed facility which will be built on the Stanford Hall Rehabilitation Estate, delivering a centre of excellence to improve rehabilitation services in England. It is co-located with the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre. Thanks to an academic partnership led by the University of Nottingham and Loughborough University, research and innovation and training and education in rehabilitation will be embedded at the NRC and central to clinical practice.
We are looking for an innovative and driven Lead Nurse who is passionate about rehabilitation and transforming outcomes for patients who have experienced major trauma or serious illness. They should be committed to developing and supporting a high quality nursing workforce from now through to once the NRC is open and established. This Lead Nurse will form part of the NRC leadership team helping the service transition from Linden Lodge and then taking responsibility for the nursing workforce once operational.

Main duties of the job
The NRC programme will redesign services, widen access for patients and, in conjunction with HEE, develop a core skills set around rehabilitation. The successful candidate will be expected to raise the profile of Nursing in rehabilitation, setting ambitious standards of recruitment, retention, training and education. They will ensure that staff are clear about what is expected for success and are working in an effective, collaborative team culture to achieve the NRC’s vision.
Specifically, the post holder will work closely with the NRC programme team, including the Director of Operations and NRC Medical Lead, to improve workforce efficiency, ensure high quality clinical care is provided, and create a compelling vision for the future of the NRC. This will be through both providing strong clinical leadership, and supporting existing teams.

Training and Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Qualified Registered Nurse, registered with an regulatory body (NMC), with a first degree
- Extensive knowledge of the NHS and current clinical standards within respiratory and cardiac services.
- In depth knowledge of education, training and staff development issues
Desirable criteria
- Master’s degree in health related subject
- Leading workforce and/or role redesign
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant experience at senior level
- Leading and delivering programmes of change within an acute NHS setting including role redesign
Desirable criteria
- Clinical experience within rehabilitation

Salary: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.

The system will run a check against the key security features within your documentation. The system will provide us with an outcome of your check which will be stored securely on your personal file along with all other pre-employment check documentation.

- Transfer of information: If I have previous NHS service - I consent to the transfer of my Electronic Staff Record (ESR) data between this and other NHS Trusts. I also consent to the Occupational Health Department confidentially accessing my occupational health records from my current or previous employer in order to check the status of my vaccinations, immunisations s and screening tests as relevant to the post. I understand this is an automated process and the information will only be used for these purposes prior to me taking up the position at NUH.
- Disclosure and Barring Service: Your post maybe subject to a DBS check which incur a cost dependent on the level of check required (£41.90 for enhanced and £21.90 for standard).
