The Organisation:

The Northern Centre of Photography is home to our highly-regarded photography provision at the University of Sunderland.

In this role, you will support student engagement with facilities and create content for social platforms. You will work directly with our North East Photography Network (NEPN) co-ordinator.

The NEPN was established by the University in 2009 to develop photographic practice in the region.

Main Purpose of Role:

  • Support students in the Northern Centre of Photography
  • Support demonstration of photography equipment, software and production techniques to students
  • Support the activity of the North East Photography Network
  • Support specialist technicians with administrative duties
  • Create content for faculty social media platforms and managing channels in line with faculty strategy
  • Create content for recruitment presentations and course web pages
  • Support faculty recruitment activity through school and college visits, open days and other activity which may include flexibility in working patterns
  • Liaise regularly with academic teams to provide support to curriculum

Special Circumstances:

Applicants must already have the legal right to work in the UK for the length of the contract.

Qualifications and Professional Memberships:

Essential:

  • A degree level qualification obtained in Photography or a related subject from the University of Sunderland

Key Knowledge and Expertise:

    Knowledge of photography equipment, production techniques and editing software
    Understanding of social media platforms

Experience:

    Independent practice in photographic and lens-based work

Competencies:

    Ability to work with Adobe Photoshop, Premiere and Lightroom
    Ability to communicate effectively in both a written and verbal format
    Ability to listen and interpret information
    Ability to resolve problems and provide solutions
    Ability to work within a team environment and also work independently
    Ability to use a wide variety of IT packages including Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point

Desirable:

    Ability to work with Adobe InDesign
    Knowledge of Capture One
