GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Reporting to the OCFN Chief and Council, the Band Administrator will ensure effective and efficient management of the OCFN and its departments. The Band Administrator holds a key leadership position with OCFN. When representing the OCFN, the Band administrator shall always demonstrate professionalism.

REPORTING REQUIRMENTS:

Under the Authority of the Chief and Council, the Band Administrator assumes complete responsibility for carrying out assigned policies, procedures, and regulations. The Band Manager has Authority to direct implementation of the First Nations programs and services and is responsible to oversee the overall financial management and the management of all staff members as well; direct the day-to-day operations, and is invited to all OCFN committee meetings, acts as a consultant to the Chief and Council and its committees.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Band Administrator will execute the following duties and responsibilities in a manner that is consistent and cognizant of the OCFN philosophy and community customs and traditions. These include, but not limited to the following:

Policy Management

· Prepare procedure statements for C&C governance.

· Supports the C&C in developing and recommending policy.

· Develop and maintain effective employee relations with all employees of the OCFN and its departments.

· Approve all new Job Positions and Descriptions.

· Ensure C&C have an opportunity to an annual review of the OCFN Employment Policy and Procedures Manual to ensure that the policy is up to date, accurate and complies with relevant legislation.

· Ensure that each OCFN Department comply with and contribute effectively to the OCFN yearly operational planning.

Strategic Planning

· Conducts both and internal and external environmental scan to identify emerging issues that effect OCFN. The internal scan brings C&C’s attention issues arsing from within the First Nation, such as a need for technological resources. The external scan identifies issue that may have an impact on the Nation, such as change in provincial or federal policies or funding.

Leadership

· Works in collaboration with and relevant community agencies and groups, to accomplish objectives to fulfill responsibilities.

· Encourages team building by facilitating open communication and positive working relationships with staff.

· Other duties and responsibilities will include Financial Management and Reporting, Risk Analysis, Cultural- Traditional integration, Governance Management, Advocacy Management

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Education- Post Secondary Diploma in Business management, or relevant discipline required, University degree or college diploma (2 years minimum) in field related management.

· Work experience- Requires a minimum of 5 years working experience in senior management with progressive levels of responsibilities, including financial management, reporting, negotiating and supervision of staff.

· 5 or more years of progressive management experience, 5 pr more years of direct financial management experience with First Nation Communities

· Serve as a Positive Role Model for the O’Chiese First Nation Community

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months

Salary: $100,000.00-$150,000.00 per year
