We have a brand-new opportunity at the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association for a Care Support Co-ordinator to join the team on a 12-month Fixed Term Contract.

Within this role, you will lead, develop, co-design and co-ordinate all aspects of support volunteer activity, ensuring consistent service delivery and training across the MND Connect helpline and the Area Support Community of Practice.

The key purpose of this role is to ensure that people living with/affected by MND are supported and empowered by leading the provision of Association care services and support through volunteers, the MND Connect helpline and working directly to support people with/affected by MND.

You will provide cover to regional care area support volunteers across England, Wales, and Northern Ireland; working closely with the MND Connect manager and managing a team of MND Connect support volunteers, providing appropriate training for them to effectively assess the needs of the MND Connect service users.

This is a home-based role working regionally and nationally with volunteers and teams across the Association.


What are we looking for?

It is essential you have experience of volunteer management and experience of helpline work alongside well-developed assessment skills, including active listening, questioning, and responding.

You will need to clearly demonstrate an understanding of support services in the statutory, private and/or voluntary sectors including value and challenges of volunteering.

Knowledge of Health and Social Care, medical and research issues, and an understanding of management risk and safeguarding.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, influencing and presentation skills, and the ability to build and establish good relationships with a range of stakeholders.
