Non-Medical Helper (Study Assistant)

£20 per hour

The Accessibility & Disability Resource Centre (ADRC) is seeking a Study Assistant to work with a visually impaired undergraduate student from the Department of Psychology.
The work would involve:
- Reading out texts based on the student’s instructions
- Saving files online
- Searching for specific words in PDFs
- Reading out search results and allowing the student to choose which search results to continue reading on
- Naming files and uploading onto a sharing platform
- Reading and recording written material in audio format
- Sharing audio files onto a sharing platform
- Liaising with the student’s other Study Assistants
This would be a remote role, working live on calls with the student.
We are looking for candidates who are available for 10-30 hours per week, with availability in afternoons and/or evenings. The key period we are seeking to cover is between 13 May and 4 September, which is when the student would be taking exams with the remote support of Study Assistants.
Experience of working with disabled people is desirable. Excellent communication and organisation skills, discretion, and reliability are essential. Candidates should feel confident recording themselves speaking and uploading audio files to sharing platforms.
The pay rate is £20 per hour.
The successful candidates would sit within our pool of Non-Medical Helpers, and be registered with the Temporary Employment Service (TES).
