Job description

About us

We are Juno CIC is a new not-for-profit organisation opening a network of high-quality residential homes for children and young people across the Liverpool City Region.

Juno is here to make a change in children’s residential care, and to disrupt existing models that are not working for the young people they support. We create children’s homes that stimulate heads, warm hearts and hold the hands of the young people they are there for.

About the role

We need someone who can help us take our vision forward, but do it in the right way, a way that fits with our core values. We want someone who can keep an eye on the bigger picture, making sure our strategy is being progressed whilst helping our Senior Leadership Team and wider team grow and learn.

As a Non-executive Director, we’ll need you to share your knowledge and experience to lead on safeguarding and quality. At the heart of your role is:

  • Attending and actively participating in all Board Meetings (unless the absence is agreed upon prior), including reading and carefully considering how you can contribute to all Board papers in advance
  • Providing support, monitoring and challenging the Operations team in their roles
  • Keeping the Board and the Exec team accountable to ensure they achieve their agreed work plans

Our Board meetings are normally held via Teams. They take place every six weeks, however, you may also be asked to attend in person and take part in our annual strategy day. If successful, you’ll be appointed for a one-year term – that’ll be subject to six months’ notice during the first year of service and three months’ notice thereafter.

About you

  • You have 10+ years of Senior Leadership experience in Children’s Residential Care or Children’s Social Care
  • You’re experienced in working with Ofsted and have a robust understanding of sector regulations
  • You have a strong understanding of safeguarding principles and procedures
  • You have a strong interest in developing people
  • You’re excellent at solving problems in relation to children
  • You’ve got the ability to participate in and contribute to Board discussions. You also recognise the views of others and are committed to working together to reach decisions that work for all.
