Night-Shift Supervisor

We have opportunities for a Night-Shift Supervisor to join our company at our Wellingborough site.

This is a night shift, working Monday to Thursday . Core hours are 4:00pm – 3:00am. We offer competitive rates of pay, company pension, 19 days holiday plus bank holidays, private healthcare and the opportunity for overtime during peak periods.

Purpose of the job:
To support the Operations Manager and Operations Director in the day-to-day running of the Kit-Cutting, Laminating, Break-Out and Trim-Shop departments, including the management of the Kit-Cutting department, Laminators, Break-Out Technicians/Claves and Trimmers. Ensuring the departments are working to meet the customer requirements and that the correct quality of standards of work and the departmental resources are managed effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Responsibilities

  • Responsible for overall execution and delivery of the production schedule for departments as a whole, ensuring the schedule is completed and any issues are escalated to the appropriate individuals.
  • Managing the work ensuring all tasks are completed on time, correctly to company/customer policy/procedures in an efficient manner.
  • Working with the team on a day to day basis ensuring any delays are highlighted to scheduler and a plan is put in place with the team to catch up/cover off any delays, causing issues are rectified ASAP and a prevention plan/action is put in place.
  • Responsible for ensuring equipment is well checked, maintained and serviced according to the company policy, any issues to be rectified immediately and escalated as required.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy and safe working environment.
  • Ensure department job sheets is marked off on time and accurate to WO’s issued/received
  • Liaise with all departments to ensure the smooth running of production.
  • Ensure that any resource/material shortage is reported to Production Managers.


Quality and Standards

  • Responsible for ensuring all work is completed to the correct quality standard (both the customer and companies) at all times.
  • Liaising with the Quality Manager to debrief quality performance, issues, failures of process, corrective actions and ensuring any actions are followed and resolved in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Ensuring the moulds are kept and maintained in suitable condition.
  • Escalating any issues arising in relation to kit/moulds/process/manuals needs to the Production Manager/Department Supervisors immediately and ensuring these are dealt with.


People Management

  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of the Trim-Shop, Kit-Cutting, Laminating, Inspection and Break-Out departments.
  • Ensuring staff appraisals, reviews, return to work interviews, performance management, disciplinary’s (with HR) and any other related employee duties are carried out when required and any issues dealt with then resolved in line with company policy and procedure.
  • Responsible for ensuring the TNA records are kept up to date, accurate and staff are adhering to the company requirements in relation to this.
  • Hold weekly departmental meetings and issuing out the weekly briefs.
  • Responsible for ongoing departmental staff development and training.
  • Management of the production operatives, time management, attendance, annual leave etc.
  • Liaise with HR with any employee issues, i.e., performance management, disciplinary process, grievance process etc.
