19 Beaumont Street Surgery are looking to expand our reception team. The successful candidate will be a person with excellent customer service skills and be passionate about helping patients to access the right care. Our receptionists are excellent care navigators and valued for their helpful and friendly manner. Medical receptionists undertake a variety of roles and performs a number of functions. The following list of duties is intended to indicate the range rather than set limits.
Key areas of reception activity:
- Make appointments over the telephone, at the reception desk and on the computer system
- To undertake the registration of patients and deal appropriately with changes of address/name using the computer system. To have knowledge of the Practice Boundary (the area covered by our Practice)
- To respond to patient enquiries and receive patients consulting with members of practice team both in person and by telephone.
- To deal with the practice’s incoming and outgoing mail
- To deal with repeat prescriptions; checking names and address
- To undertake checks of patient details when required
- Filing, faxing and photocopying as required by the Practice
- To scan documents and file them electronically
- To undertake the collection and organisation of new records received from external organisations (such as hospitals and other health and social care bodies)
- To undertake training as appropriate including regular statutory and mandatory training
- To undertake other administrative duties allocated by the line manager or Practice Manager

Essential:

- Good general education with qualifications in English and Maths
- Organised with attention to detail
- Able to demonstrate an understanding of patient confidentiality
- Willingness to undertake full training and learn new skills
- Have experience working with computers
Desirable:
- Experience in dealing with the public
- Previous experience working in a medical practice / organisation
- Flexibility to cover colleagues’ holidays
We offer a 22 days annual leave pro rota (excluding bank holidays), increasing with service.
Job Types: Permanent, Full-time
Salary: £10.80-£11.35 per hour

- Oxford: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
