Job description
Bauer Media Audio is looking for a Newsdesk Editor to join our award-winning Scotland news team.
The successful candidate will be a talented, journalist, capable of producing multiple news bulletins to the highest possible standard. You will have at least two years experience, an excellent broadcast voice and will be capable of building contacts and unearthing quality news stories from the patch.
Our Team
You will work closely with the news team across Scotland and link into our news network across the UK, covering the Forth 1 and Greatest Hits Radio patch in Edinburgh, the Lothians and Fife.
You will be joining a passionate, hard-working team who really care about keeping our listeners up to date. You must have a genuine interest in local, national and international news, current affairs and sport to fit this role. News never stops and is a huge part of Bauer’s daily output, keeping our radio stations connected to the communities we broadcast to.
Key Responsibilities
A great voice and the passion and ability to be able to produce compelling bulletins, run a busy news desk, direct reporters and work across a range of on-air, online and social platforms.
You will be able to work calmly and accurately and will ensure everything you broadcast or put on social media is legally sound, Ofcom compliant, accurate and balanced.
You should be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding and experience of modern audio/video broadcasting platforms and how they can assist our teams in delivering news content to a wide range of audiences.
You should be able to demonstrate a knowledge of the patch and the kinds of stories which will resonate with our local audiences.
You will update social media feeds and the news pages of our website.
Collaborate with patch reporters and direct as necessary, to deliver compelling local stories which will enhance our news output on air.
Work with other team members across Scotland and the UK to maintain news diaries and plan ahead to enhance our bulletins in all day parts.
What we’re looking for
Do you have a passion for news? Do you listen to the radio and want to work on a fast moving news patch in Scotland’s capital city? Do you have at least two years multi media journalism experience? If so, this role could be for you.
This is a full-time role, based in Edinburgh.
You must have a full driving licence.
