New Product Development Assistant
As a New Product Development Assistant , you will play a crucial role in supporting Tropic's NPD team in bringing our next generation of innovative, naturally derived, and cruelty-free products to market!
You'll work closely with our formidable R&D team to develop new formulations, conduct research, and test products whilst working cross-departmentally with our Marketing, Creative, Supply Chain and Quality teams to ensure the successful development and launch of all new skincare and cosmetic products that align with our brand values and customer expectations.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the NPD team to assist in the creation and execution of new product concepts, from ideation to formulation and packaging.
- Conduct market research and consumer insight analysis to identify emerging trends, competitor products, and consumer preferences to inform product development strategies.
- Assist in coordinating and managing product development projects, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
- Work closely with the formulation team to test and evaluate product prototypes, providing feedback and suggestions for improvement.
- Assist in evaluating raw materials, packaging components, and suppliers to ensure they meet quality, sustainability, and ethical standards.
- Create and maintain accurate documentation for product specifications, ingredient lists, and formulation details.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop product names, descriptions, and other marketing materials that effectively communicate product benefits and features.
- Assist in coordinating product testing, including stability, safety, and efficacy tests, and track results.
- Support the quality control team in reviewing and addressing any quality issues during the product development process.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices in skincare and cosmetics to contribute innovative ideas to the NPD process.
About You
- A genuine passion for all things skincare and beauty!
- A bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, Biology, or a related field.
- Prior experience in a product development role within the beauty or skincare industry is a plus.
- Prior experience in colour cosmetics product development is essential.
- Experience in make-up artistry is highly desirable.
- Strong passion for skincare and cosmetics, with a keen interest in natural and sustainable products.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate across departments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant software.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Understanding of regulatory requirements and industry standards in skincare and cosmetics.

Additional
- Full-time, Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm.
- Our office is conveniently located just 3 minutes’ walk from Beddington Lane Tram stop, which is connected to East Croydon and Wimbledon - both 20 minutes away. Approx. 30 to 35 minutes travel time from South / South West London.

- Starting salary from £30,000 per annum.
