Job Insight:
You’ll be researching, tendering, converting, and onboarding desirable new business whilst also helping existing customers to grow.
As a New Business Manager, you’ll form part of our wider Customer Success department as we recognise that taking a relationship-focused approach to winning profitable new business is essential. We apply a creative, tailored approach to winning new business with both existing customers and prospects alike.
Through research and targeting you’ll convert a range of new business opportunities in undertaking a robust bid process. Your ideas and creative flair in working closely with content marketing will help set us apart from the competition, drawing upon prospect intelligence and supporting knowledge of similar customers we already work with. You’ll also work closely with the operations team in ensuring that any new business onboarded is aligned to our target specification and spectrum of capability.
This role will also oversee the growth of our extended suite of value-added services including but not limited to Amazon Support Services, 3PL Lite, 4PL and Pre-Retail. As a pivotal member of the management team, you will attend weekly and monthly reviews and report with relevant business intelligence whilst working closely with prospects, internal stakeholders, key suppliers, and our existing customers in unison.
Person Specification
This role is entrepreneurial demanding a pioneering spirit and founder's mentality. You’ll be a tenacious, inspirational, and infectious leader of people whilst demonstrating confidence, authority and gravitas always when interacting both internally and externally. For this role you’ll be required to adopt a flexible approach to your working hours and location to position yourself in the right areas maximise impact and achieve sales budget. You’ll be a self-driven and ambitious with a real desire to make a difference for the Company and on a personal level. You’ll also possess strong organisation and technical skills whilst being analytical all of which must be underpinned by your in-built entrepreneurial flair. You’ll have the proven ability to develop strategy for your department and driving progress through influencing and courting of support from the wider management team. To fulfil your potential within 3PL you should be capable of challenging the status quo, thrive on change, be customer centric and lead from the front.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
The role is varied and the duties below are not exhaustive.
- Work with sales support to identify suitable prospects through market and sector research
- Evaluate the viability of bid opportunities and make justified recommendations whether to pursue or not in relation to return on investment. We have a "Bidding to Win" process which means the key stakeholders are involved in these evaluation opportunities to ensure we have senior support and input for any key account decisions.
- Construct creative win strategies to convince a client to use 3PL, including new approaches and innovations. Always using examples from Customers to evidence the work we do and to bring the bid to life.
- Draft bespoke copy to a very high standard, sales material rather than 'copy and paste’.
- Conduct debriefs on Bids that are successful and unsuccessful and translate 'lessons learned’ into practical guidance for the wider partnership to grow the Bid win rate. These learnings are shared with the SMT
- Working with Customer Success team in ensuring the right approach is taken to on-boarding following a bid win and the Bid proposition and promises are delivered post Bid.
- Work with other departments to help promote the client-centric focus for growth.
- Work with marketing to ensure case studies are grouped and banked.
- Identify target relationships that can be tracked to lead to a bidding opportunity.
- Conduct customer listening with existing business to deepen commercial insights into what customers want, and their un-met needs. .
- Maintain Bid Records with qualitative and quantitative data.
- Organise and chair presentation run-throughs, requesting critical challenge ahead of any key account pitch.
- Attend selected external events and training courses and document learnings.
- Work with QA on the creation of a sales-based Quality Management System (QMS)
- Support Account Based Marketing campaigns for targeted prospects.

Education and experience
A proven track record of success in managing and delivering effective and winning sales opportunities / Bids within a services environment.
Commercial nous and an ability to see things from the customers point of view.
- Collaborative working, keen to work with others and to take a collective approach.
- A self-starter who creates confidence amongst colleagues and builds co-operative and inclusive working arrangements.
- Equipped with tenacity and patience to move relationships forward over time
- An excellent communicator able to influence internal and external stakeholders
