About the role

The mission is to transform our infrastructure into resilient, scalable, and repeatable IaaS and PaaS services that support current and future business requirements.

The Network Services engineer has the responsibility for managing the performance and availability of all voice and data communication services to agreed service levels, designs and builds new services and provides signifant input into the strategy and roadmap for voice and data communication services across public and private clouds.

Accountabilities
  • Significantly contributes to or leads design and development of complex, integrated solutions to meet business requirements or enhance performance of Vitality’s voice and data communication services.
  • Providing leadership in planning and delivery of Voice and Data Comms projects and service changes. Ensure each project is well defined and has plans for success.
  • Responsible for the day to day support and maintenance of voice and data comms infrastructure, resolving and making decisions on more complex incidents and service requests.
  • Development of run books and SOPs to support network operations for new services
  • Identify service improvement opportunities to optimise return on investment, efficiency, reliability, and simplicity of Vitality voice and data communication services.
  • Manage vendors and service providers to agreed service levels.
  • Identify, socialise and implement best practices as they emerge
  • Continuously develop technical subject matter expertise on established and emerging infrastructure technologies
  • Proactively seek to enhance DevOps culture by removing silos between traditional functional teams.
  • Automate and orchestrate changes to network and communication services, promoting the use of “Infrastructure as Code” and Software Defined Networking across all teams.
  • Support and assist the L1 Network support teams with BAU and provide an appropriate escalation point where required.
Skills required
Essential
  • Demonstrable track record of managing Data and Voice technologies within an ITIL-oriented framework
  • Excellent collaboration and communications skills
  • A highly driven self-starter, who shows flexibility and desire to develop a career at Vitality
  • A naturally good communicator, able to remain calm under pressure and focused on delivery of solutions
  • AWS networking and security configuration and management
  • Palo Alto Firewall configuration and management (ideally certified or working towards certification such as PCNSA or PCNSE)
  • Configuration and Management of Cisco based LAN infrastructure and Meraki Wifi networks.
