Reporting to: Network Development & Delivery Manager
You’ll be responsible for:
- Supporting the smooth and efficient day to day operation of the entire Truespeed network
- Providing technical input into a growing Network Engineering team
- Working with mixed vendor kit including Extreme, Cisco, Adtran, Edgecore and Merchant Silicon
- Commissioning of new network, power, and environmental infrastructure.
- Diagnosing the root causes of complex network issues using analytical and problem-solving skills
- Act as an escalation point for Field Engineering teams
- Support in the active network alarm correlation and priorities, that our NOC react to.
- On-call duty as part of a rota, to support the smooth running of our 24/7 network. Responding to incidents and supporting the field engineering team in network maintenance and repair
- Implementing and supporting scalable software-defined processes
- Contributing to the design and implementation of a core network architecture to support network scaling up to 500,000 customers across the region
- Ability to convert network change plans into High Level & Low-level implementable designs.
- Working in a DevOps orientated practice of continual improvement
- Ensuring the timely documentation of all fixes and changes to the Network
- Any other duties that may be required to ensure the successful operation of the Truespeed network
What skills I’ll bring to the role:
- Experience working in an Internet Service Provider or Data Centre following best practices
- Strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware
- Expert technical knowledge in all matters relating to optical ethernet, IP transmission and routing (including ISIS and BGP)
- Strong familiarity with major network vendors
- Good understanding of optical fibre network FTTH technology in depth enabling troubleshooting of faults and performance issues
- Experience in staging and testing of networking equipment to fulfil design requirements
- Experience working within unix-like environments (i.e. Linux, FreeBSD).
- Experience implementing and managing automation tools, and the DevOps approach to infrastructure orchestration.
- The aptitude to work to a high standard autonomously or within a team
- Team player, building positive relationships internally, with suppliers and customers
- Pro-active, can-do attitude, always going the extra mile
- Ability to communicate clearly and present complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences
Qualifications
- CCNA/CCIE level of certification is desirable but not essential
