What's involved with this role:
QAD/1156/2906 Role: Network Engineer Contract Length: anticipated 12 months Location: Glasgow 3 days per week on site Our client is looking to hire a Network Engineer. A Network Engineer is required to provide technical engineering services and lead on delivery of key network engineering objectives aligned to the organisation’s strategic initiatives. As Network Engineer you will have at least five years’ experience working in a similar role and experience in secure, resilient network architecture and expert technical hands-on network experience. We are looking for a Network Engineer with broad experience of hardware based network high-grade cryptography and in particular implementing in a high threat environment. As the Network Engineer you will have the following responsibilities:
  • Provide technical engineering services and lead on delivery of key network engineering objectives
  • Development of network services that deliver secure, scalable, performant on-premise (and a small amount of public cloud) network infrastructure solutions in support of current and future business needs.
  • Design, implement, administer and support network infrastructure technologies, solutions and services.
As Network Engineer you will have worked in a similar role and will have the following skillset:
  • Experience in secure, resilient network architecture and expert technical hands-on network experience.
  • Experience of VMware networking and security virtualisation in particular NSX and including V to T migrations.
  • Experience of hardware based network high-grade cryptography and in particular implementing in a high threat environment.
  • Experience of designing and implementing Juniper networks including Junos OS for automating network operations.
  • Experience of implementing and managing Palo Alto firewalls particularly in high-speed data centre scenarios.
  • Experience in documenting network configurations and creating runbooks. You will have experience contributing to HLD’s, LLDs and configuration documentation in relation to SD-DC, Core DC Fabrics, DC Interconnects, LAN, WAN, VPN’s, and Firewalls.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of information security and the types of security controls that can be used to mitigate security threats within network solutions and services.
  • Proven track record for delivering large-scale IT projects, with direct responsibility for designing and implementing highly available and resilient network solutions.
  • A thorough understanding of the network technical concepts required for the role and can explain how these fit into the wider technical landscape. This includes zero-trust networks, micro-segmentation, automation, least privilege etc.
