POSITION SCOPE
The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for designing and implementing the company’s network infrastructure, resolving advanced support issues, and managing the support and project tasks for the network engineering staff. The goal of this position is to ensure the integrity of high availability network infrastructure to provide maximum performance for all endpoints. This position will be responsible for configuring, directing system installations, defining, and documenting network equipment standards, designs, and processes, under architecture guidance.
DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain high level performance of network infrastructure through routine monitoring, maintenance and troubleshooting. Hardware to include switches, routers, firewalls, wireless LAN controllers, access points, and Network Access Controllers.
- Implement, maintain and recommend improvements to network configurations of firewalls, IDP, VPN, and other network security devices.
- Evaluate and recommend new hardware and software purchases to enhance network and security operations
- Develops and maintains concise network documentation, inventory and diagrams
- Work with other IT teams and clients to assist with projects & initiatives, device maintenance, troubleshooting and support issues.
- Collaborate with the network architect to design and implement functional company networks
- Technical Engineering Lead – develop, document, and train process/procedure to other members of the team and other teams if necessary
- Work collaboratively with other teams – security, architecture, operations technology, etc.
- Track and ensure licenses, SmartNet, software, EOL project documents are up to date
- Manage network project tasks/change control and coordinate scheduling and network resources
- Unified communication – Teams support and Telecom support
- Create and implement network security measures
- Monitor Network Performance and integrity – conduct regular network performance tests
- Reporting – network status reports and updates on the status of projects to management and stakeholders
ESSENTIAL CAPABILITIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES)
- Extensive knowledge of the methods and procedures applicable to networking systems operation, installation and maintenance.
- Skill in the development of specifications and evaluation of bids for the purchase of equipment and services.
- Ability to prepare and present data and reports to support system and equipment improvements and/or replacement recommendations.
- Ability to evaluate operational performance and implement changes; knowledge of project management techniques.
- Ability to make decisions recognizing established precedents and practices and to use resourcefulness and tact in solving new problems.
- Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in applying and interpreting department rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Strong analytical and research skills; ability to ascertain priorities and meet deadlines and objectives.

- Monitor network/system faults and performance, troubleshoot and resolve network/system problems, install network/system equipment and services, document network/system problems and resolution.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be proficient in programming Cisco switches and routers to include configuration of IP Telephony.
- Must be proficient in implementation of wireless networks to include configuration of Wireless LAN Controllers, CAPWAP, FlexConnect, EAP-TLS, RADIUS.
- Strong knowledge and skills with Network protocol and security analysis tools, routing protocols, VLAN Security, and VPN
- Preferred experience working with Windows networking applications including Active Directory, ISA, DHCP, DNS, and SNMP
ESSENTIAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, related fields or equivalent work experience- Professional certification – CCNP/CCDP
