Primary Purpose
The Desktop team are tasked with supporting, maintaining and improving our MSP clients core infrastructure and taking high-level escalations from the support team.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage incident and request tickets ensuring established SLA’s are met
- Provide an escalation point for Desktop Support team and Infrastructure Engineers
- Monitor and maintain client’s Infrastructure and systems
- Proactively respond to monitoring alerts and notifications
Role Activity
· Providing support to clients on both infrastructure issues and escalated desktop support issues when required, managing client expectations, and advising on technical resolution.
· Producing and implementing change requests for both internal and external requests.
· Monitor dashboards and reporting and respond to situations as they develop.
· Communicate daily to clients with open tickets.
· Produce data and input on client environments to aid in the development of client roadmaps.
· Participate in ongoing internal training programs.
· Working with client’s 3rd parties’ suppliers and vendors when appropriate.
· Support the delivery of client’s projects.
· Maintain infrastructure asset register and configurations.
· Travel to client sites as and when required to provide support and/or installations and meetings.
· Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
· Undertake any other reasonable duties as required to meet the needs of the business.
Person Specification:
Minimum:
· Microsoft Server OS experience and/or certification (management, maintenance and deployment).
· 5+ years experience designing and maintaining large corporate or education networks.
· CCNA/ACSA or equivalent networking certification.
· Experience or certification in any of the following technologies.
- HPE/Aruba & Comware Switches
- Dell OS9/10 Switches
- Cisco iOS
- VMWare ESXI & Microsoft Hyper-V
- Ubiquiti Wireless
- Cisco Meraki
· Experience architecting and implementing Azure or AWS networks and services
· Excellent communication skills
· Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills
· Excellent client service
· Positive attitude to work
· Strive to continuous improvement.
· Able to work independently under pressure.
· 5 years’ IT experience in a corporate or services environment.
· Interest in progressing to a Network Lead type position in 2-3 years.
· Driving License and own transport essential.
Desirable:
· Experience configuring and maintaining at least one of the below firewall vendors:
- Cisco ASA
- Watchguard
- Fortigate
- Palo Alto
- Smoothwall
· Experience with Network Management Systems, in particular Auvik.
· Previous experience of infrastructure project delivery and infrastructure management.
· Previous experience in an MSP environment.
