Founded by two successful entrepreneurs the business has grown rapidly by making complementary acquisitions and developing new services to meet market demands. Operating in a buoyant technology space they have recently completed a successful round of external fundraising and now have in excess of £120m of capital to deploy on a major infrastructure project.
Cisco Network Engineer -Level 3 Network Support
You will be integral to the growth strategy through collaborating with other key areas of the business in Acquisitions, Project Management, Installations and Sales.
We need experience and practical knowledge. You will be responsible for setting the standards for others to follow.
The role is hands on and requires flexibility in terms of working out of hours.
Duties and responsibilities of the Cisco Network Engineer
· Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS)
· Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations
· Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability
· Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning
· Plan and execute in depth technical activity, influencing the direction of activities/plans and providing technical insight and guidance to others
· Investigate and help resolve issues on ISP network using agreed troubleshooting methodologies
· Ensuring accurate recording of all cases using the Company’s ticket management tool and closing within agreed timeframes
· Supporting and taking ownership of ad-hoc projects to develop the capabilities of the Ideal Service Centre
· Supporting wider team with knowledge share, via knowledge base communications (emails, how-to guides etc.) and contribution at team meetings
Experience and skills required of the Cisco Network Engineer
· Minimum experience of 7 years core networking.
· Experience with routers and switches – specifically with cisco devices.
· Expert in troubleshooting issues - wireshark, packet inspection, mtu/mss etc
· Advance knowledge/experience of multiple core routing protocols like OSPF and BGP.
· Experience with the router and switch load-balancing protocols - GLBP, HSRP, VRRP
· Advance knowledge and experience with layer 2 technologies – RSTP, MSTP, REP, PPPoE, storm control etc.
· Experience with ISP level protocols like MPLS, MPLS Traffic Engineering, XConnect, VPLS, and VPWS.
· Experience with network monitoring tools like Solarwinds, PRTG etc.
· Good knowledge and experience with different media type – like Fibre, Ethernet, GPON, XGPON, CWDM and DWDM.
· Good Knowledge of WiFi routers and issues related to them.
· Good knowledge/experience with 5Ghz out door wireless devices – Good to have.

Salary: £40,000.00-£55,000.00 per year
