The position will be based either in the Bay Area or remotely in the U.S., with periodic travel to our Oakland, California office and other locations. Overview
This position will work in our Technology team and provide proactive and reactive support (at project sites and remotely) for our solar OT/ICS networking and computer systems. The Network Engineer will ensure the PV and energy storage facilities remain online and adhere to NERC-CIP and NIST CSF requirements. This person will also work with our Project Management and Engineering team and managed security service provider (MSSP) to assist with the network and computer systems design of new facilities and their implementation. Travel to remote facilities will be required as needed.
Core Responsibilities
- Create network diagrams for all legacy OT systems
- Design SCADA and OT system network infrastructure
- Remedy all facility connectivity issues on LAN or WAN
- Coordinate activities with our internal O&M team to provide parallel support
- Monitor infrastructure using RMM tools
- Deploy physical hardware upgrades for DAS or SCADA
- Provide support to the Systems Administrator
- Ensure technical compliance with NERC CIP and NIST CSF, as required
- Travel to project sites to remedy physical problems with OT systems will be required as needed
Qualifications and Experience
- 3-5 years in high-volume IT, MSP, or MSSP environment or demonstrable experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline is preferred
- Related technical certifications (CCNA, CCNP, Network+, Security+, PCNSE)
- Experience deploying network hardware and working with ISPs
- Experience designing and deploying secure network infrastructure
- Experience with basic hand tools and standard safety precautions
- Experience with programming and scripting in Windows Powershell and Linux Shell
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, Modbus (TCP and serial), Fiber (multimode and single mode), Wireless (Zigbee, Wi-Fi, Cellular), RS232/485, and WAN routing
- This job will require periodic travel as required
- Excellent written and verbal skills
- Solar experience is preferred
