Network Administrator / 2ndLine Support Analyst – Job Specification
The role is to ensure that society IT infrastructure is kept in a healthy and secure state. Being an escalation point for the IT helpdesk analyst for business-as-usual IT support tickets as well as fielding 1st contact calls.
The company is entering a period of system and infrastructure modernisation so a forward-thinking mind-set with an enthusiasm for change is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Tackling IT Support tickets escalated from the IT Helpdesk Analyst
- Checking society data backup is successful and remedying any issues.
- Knowledge of infrastructure migrations
- Implement software and operating system security updates based on current best practise.
- Implementing and progressing IT Security best practises.
- Provide feedback to IT Manager to allow continuous improvement of the IT service to the business.
- IT Project work – this is likely to be a significant part of the role.
- Day to Day Support for the food and funeral branches along with a head office function.
- Take a leading technical role in the implementation of new systems and infrastructure.
- Installation of new hardware. Both End user compute and infrastructure.
- Updating society IT documentation
- Liaising with software vendors on BAU support.
- Logging support tickets within the helpdesk to ensure the business gains valuable insight into the IT support desk.

- Windows Server 2012
- MS Office 2013 through 365.

- Mitel Phone Systems
- Working knowledge of system migrations within a live environment.
- Business Systems: Access Dimensions, EFD (Funeral Management), VME Retail
- Working knowledge of break/fix hardware.
- Microfocus GroupWise
- Knowledge of VLANS, their use and configuration.
- Troubleshooting of complex system issues.
- MPLS
- Palo Alto Firewall Maintenance and configuration
- Microsoft SQL Server
Person Specification
- Flexibility. There is an on call rota 1 week in 4. Evening and overnight work on occasion.
- At least 2 Years’ Experience in a 2ndLine position
- Experienced in leading a team (desirable)
- ITIL Foundation (desirable)
- Forward thinking
- Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines
- Enthusiasm for change
- Driving licence as travel to company sites is essential on occasion
- Willingness to learn
