An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and passionate individual to work within the Council’s Neighbourhood Warden service. The role is varied undertaking environmental enforcement, education around nuisance and environmental crime, promoting responsible dog ownership and dealing with stray dogs.
The role will involve enforcing environmental and other legislation in respect of anti-social behaviour, fly tipping, litter, dog fouling, fly posting, graffiti and dog control in accordance with the council’s policies and procedures. This includes issuing Fixed Penalty Notices (FPN’s), Community Protection Notices (CPN’s) Community Protection Warnings (CPW’s), gathering evidence, taking witness statements, carrying out interviews in accordance with the Police and Criminal Evidence Act, preparing legal case files and attendance in court.
As well as possessing a real interest in the environment the successful candidate will need to possess good organisational skills and excellent communication skills with the ability to positively influence behaviour change.
The post is based at Kimberley Depot working on a rota basis including weekends and working outdoors in all weathers.
We’re looking for an individual who has experience in:
- Enforcement particularly relevant to environmental crime.
- Dog handling and working knowledge of at least some of the legislation & statutory guidance relevant to the service.
- Working with the general public.
- Being assertive and the ability to deal appropriately and effectively with conflict.
- Using communication skills including persuasion and encouragement.
- Producing structured and detailed reports.
- Using ICT systems
