Job Title: National Police Chiefs' Council – Communications & Media Manager: Police Race Action Plan

Salary: £39,469 to £47,089 plus a location allowance of £1,721. You will receive £39,469 the band minimum. Progress to the band maximum of £47,089 will be via incremental progression.

Location: Remote working nationally within UK. NPCC is currently based in close proximity to St James Park underground station, London and therefore occasional travel will be required to this premise and other Police locations across the UK. Contract: Fixed Term Contract until 31/03/2024.


THE NATIONAL POLICE CHIEFS’ COUNCIL (NPCC)

NPCC COMMUNICATIONS TEAM

The NPCC Communications Team plays a crucial role in communicating the collective views and action of UK police chiefs to the public, government, and stakeholders, building, and maintaining confidence in policing at the national level and supporting effective engagement with stakeholders.

THE ROLE

We are seeking a dynamic Communications and Media Manager to support the NPCC Communications Team working on the Police Race Action Plan.

This is a high profile, challenging Communications and Media Manager role supporting the UK’s police race action plan driving progress for the public and policing.

Working at the centre of policing on one of the priority issues for the service, offers the opportunity to make a real difference.

As a Communications and Media Manager you will have responsibility for supporting delivering of the communication strategy aligned to the police race action plan programme objectives. The successful candidate will act as an advisor to some of UK’s most senior police leaders, supporting innovative solutions and driving measurable change.

The successful candidate would need to have the following experiences and skills:

  • Ability to provide communication and media advice at a senior level and use skills and experience to influence strategies and plans, including representing communications issues at high level meetings with support.
  • Strong written communication skills with experience of writing press releases and communication strategies.
  • Ability to work flexibly in managing a range of activities and operate in a fast-paced and pressurised environment, prioritising and making decisions under pressure.
  • A solid track record of building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve mutually successful business and communications outcomes.
  • Experience of working in politically sensitive and high-profile environments.

VETTING

Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) at RV and CTC level before taking up the post.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Occasional national travel may be required. Travel expenses will be paid if location allowance is not being received, or when travel falls outside of the home to work journey. NPCC will pay for overnight accommodation if required.
