National Account Manager – Transport & Defence Field Based

As the NAM, you will contribute towards the profitable growth of ‘Corporate’ business with a specific focus on developing existing customers as well as acquiring new business contracts (e.g., multinationals / large UK plc's). To own the development of B2B relationships with customers to create sustainable trusted partner relationships by creating and delivering value. Use industry thought leadership and customer insight to shape customer procurement strategy, position RS as an invaluable supplier and grow RS share of customer spend. Build an effective stakeholder network with your customers at senior levels across relevant functional departments to create engagement and consensus. Develop, negotiate, and brilliantly implement great commercial contracts that deliver maximum revenue at optimal cost to serve
Reporting to the Industry Sector Manager, you will be a part of an organization that promotes personal development, growth, and career progression and who will provide you with the tools and training you need to excel in the industry.
Key Accountabilities:
- Be First Choice for our Customer, People, Suppliers, Environment & Shareholders. Commercial analysis of RS and customer data to provide quarterly business forecasts to highlight new opportunity, review contract performance against target and identify sales planning to secure contracted revenue.
- Develop and leverage constructive relationships within target accounts to gain access to key decision makers and establish a partnership and increase our supply status.
- Facilitate business meetings with our customers to align the customer's strategy, highlight their true business needs to create a contract which all areas of the business are engaged to deliver.
- Present solution proposals to decision makers and engage them throughout consultations to secure a commercial partnership negotiating full terms and conditions supply contracts.
- Manage own time and resources of others efficiently and effectively, across a spectrum of portfolio customers who represent the best opportunity and are engaged in delivering change, right through to our longstanding high share customers who need protecting brilliantly.
- Work effectively with other non-sales and sales colleagues across the group such as Key Account Managers and Customer Relationship Managers to maximise opportunity for both RS and the Customer
- Review business opportunities for RS to Utilise our service offerings and align our ability to demonstrate savings and value to our customers.
- Conduct internal and external research to identify customer's requirements and opportunities to develop future activity plans.
Candidate Requirements:
- Proven track-record of selling B2B services and solutions to Enterprise level clients
- Be comfortable presenting and negotiating at ‘C’ level
- Recognition that positive behaviour is key to success, consisting of openness, curiosity, confidence, enthusiasm, working effectively with others and a strong work ethic
- Self-motivation with the ability to set your own agenda and work independently in a national field-based role
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to facilitate and engage a group of individuals along a planned route
- Capability in business planning and project management
- The ability to create customer need and opportunities, rather than respond to them
- A high degree of learning agility, emotional intelligence, as well as a deep understanding of who they are / what makes them tick
- Hold a current UK Driver’s License
