The Context
The Inspire Arts Trust is a national charity with the aim of developing young people through music, dance and the creative arts; and inspiring them to realise their potential, be creative and live their dream. Inspire has a lot to offer including our performing arts academy BALPA which opens its doors to over 160 young people each week, schools and youthwork opportunities plus our musical show - Jazz on Broadway.
Purpose of the Role: To provide tuition in vocals or musical theatre for our classes for ages 4 – 18 years at BALPA, our Performing Arts Academy, during term time (30 weeks per year) plus occasional holiday clubs. There may also be some schools and daytime work available.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Duties & Responsibilities
· Teach designated individuals and classes in Vocals and Musical Theatre as agreed in advance.
· Be able to provide holiday and sick leave cover for other tutors.
· Ensure the students are well prepared for each show, exam or performance they do.
· Organise costumes for the shows and performances.
· Attend the shows and performances as detailed on contract and on important dates.
Personal Requirements
· The person fulfilling this role will be a key member of the staff team at The Inspire Arts trust. The person must therefore subscribe to Inspire’s values and purpose. An enchanted DBS check must be undertaken before work can commence.
Skills
· To be able to sing to a high standard.
· To be able to communicate well with young people and encourage and motivate them.
· For musical theatre tuition, we would be looking for some drama and dance ability as well, however this is not essential for our other vocal classes.
Please note this is a self-employed role. We pay £23 per hour for the class tuition and £15 per hour for individual tuition.
