Trainee High Intensity Psychological Therapist

***Please be aware that when applying for this post there is an expectation that the post-holder will also independently apply for the October 2023 Trainee Cognitive Behavioural Therapy High Intensity Post Graduate Diploma with Birmingham University. The university selection process will run independently of Sandwell Talking Therapies selection process, and a candidate must be successful at both to be offered a position.
Main duties of the job
Sandwell Healthy Minds within the Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust provides Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) service to the local population of Sandwell.
The service offers a number of evidence-based psychological interventions both at step 2 and step 3 as proposed by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidance. The service endeavours to offer the local population a full range of evidence-based psychological interventions, within a stepped care approach.

Person specification
Essential criteria
A recorded/registered qualification in one of the following at graduate level in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, arts therapy or within a psychological therapy.
Evidence of meeting the Knowledge Skills and Attitude (KSA) requirements of BABCP
Desirable criteria
- Experience working in a stepped care service for anxiety and depression.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Demonstrable experience of working in mental health services
- Ability to meet agreed/specified service targets
- Ability to manage own caseload and time
- Demonstrates high standards in written communication
- Able to write clear reports and letters to referrers
- Worked in a service where agreed targets in place demonstrating clinical outcomes
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working in Primary Care Services
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Demonstrates an understanding of anxiety and depression and how it may present in Primary Care
- Demonstrates a knowledge of the issues surrounding work and the impact it can have on mental health
- Demonstrates an understanding for the need to use evidence based psychological therapies and how it relates to this post.
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of medication used in anxiety and depression and other common mental health problems

Salary: £33,706.00-£40,588.00 per year
