Job description
As an integrated part of the Network Engineering Team, Network Engineering Technicians support both shift and technical teams by delivering in-house planned, reactive, remedial and improvement tasks.
Building fabric maintenance and value-added change-work delivery are essential to the continually-developing automated and manual network of buildings we operate within.
Primary Distribution delivers critical 24-7 E-commerce fulfilment representing c75% og JLs business, totally dependant upon timely delivery of projects, services, parts and materials in order to keep buildings safe, compliant and reliably maintained.

What you’ll be doing:
Complete minor maintenance requests as directed by line manager.
Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) within capabilities and qualifications as assigned by Verisae.
Maintain the standard of the branch shop floor to the highest standard within financial commercial restraints.
Report any branch maintenance issues outside of capabilities and qualifications through line manager hierarchy.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders
To support the business in delivering the Partnership carbon reduction programme
Partner
Maintain branch standards to the level appropriate for the cluster group of the branch.
Minor maintenance: Complete all work orders via the Verisae system, resolve wherever possible.
Evaluate new work and quotations within capabilities, with a view to undertaking work in house if cost effective and without impact on other SLA’s
Understand & use maintenance computer systems.
To ensure all work undertaken is carried out in a safe manner, evaluating risk to minimise any impact on trade and abiding with all health and safety legislation. Carry out formal risk assessments when necessary. Escalate all safety/risk issues as per procedures when known.
Take ownership for understanding performance of own department, sharing ideas and feedback to drive continuous business improvement
Achieve agreed personal and business development objectives.
Customer
Communicate at appropriate levels within branches to ensure understanding of work progress and any changes to rota visits brought about by changed priorities.
Operation
Have a flexible outlook to the working day, there may be a need to complete work outside normal hours.
Focus on maintaining and improving the customer experience
Review standards of completed specialist contractor work orders.
Finance
Find cost-effective solutions, control stock levels, and whenever possible complete tasks within a normal working day.
Commercial awareness of Waitrose operations.
What you’ll have:
Previous experience in the building trade is desirable
A good competency of skills in the following:
Carpentry
Plumbing
Decorating
Bricklaying
Plastering
Tiling
Flooring repairs
Ability to work unsupervised
Competent IT skills to role requirements
Role Location/Required Mobility
Based at Aylesford RDC and travel to other sites when needed.
37.5 working week, Rota early and late shift pattern.
Full and clean driving licence with a minimum of 3 years experience
