Job description
Together we are Trusted to Serve Scotland.
Electrical Craftsperson at Scottish Water
Most people don’t think too much about how clean water reaches their taps. Or what happens to their wastewater. But Scottish Water does. In fact, it’s all we think about.
Want to join us? As an Electrical Craftsperson, you’ll be on the front lines of making sure Scotland’s water is totally, dependably pure.
What you’ll do
Who says water and Electricity don’t mix? Thanks to you, they get on just fine. You’ll be one of our key people who keeps our machinery running – the machinery that keeps Scotland’s water and wastewater services flowing.
Working with our Electrical & Maintenance team based in the Inverness area and working across the Highlands, ideally, you’ll be a skilled electrician with experience working on three-phase and single-phase equipment in a plant setting. You’ll maintain and fix our equipment, while keeping our people safe. As you know this means risk assessments, PPE and continuous training. Safety comes first, second, third, fourth and fifth. In this job we need all hands to the pump, sometimes literally, to fix our mechanical and electrical kit.
You’ll be working with Scottish Water people mainly, but external contacts too. A helpful attitude is part of the uniform, as is doing things in the most efficiently brilliant way possible. Are you up for it?
What you’ll bring
You’ll be 17th or 18th-Edition trained, have served an apprenticeship – and bring an HNC or NC in mechanical or electrical engineering, or equivalent.
As you’ll be writing up reports, communicating with your team and completing online training, you’ll know your way around a computer. And you’ll have a full UK driving license. Th
Even with the best E&M ops in town, sometimes equipment goes wrong outside regular hours – so you’ll also work as part of a standby rota

You can also expect:
- 38 days of holiday per year (including public holidays) with the option to buy 5 more
