Geckota is a small and innovative e-commerce business specialising in the creation of original watches, watch straps and watch accessories. We have an exciting multi-media journalism opportunity for a new person to join our team.

To be considered for this role applicants will need to show recent experience writing creative articles on a professional basis (although serious web-based watch writers with a sound portfolio may also be considered).

The successful candidate will also become an integral part of the WatchGecko YouTube Team and will be instrumental in the creation and presentation of high end regular watch related videos and podcasts.

Ultimately the job will be structured equally between The Magazine and YouTube. The position offers a good degree of creative autonomy, working directly under the supervision of the Editor in Chief and is located full time at our Tewkesbury office.

Main daily duties and responsibilities will be:

· To plan, write, and publish watch related articles for the WatchGecko Online Magazine, balanced equally with;

· Original creative work for the YouTube and Podcast channels, comprising scripting, preparation and presenting within the video team;

· Timely proofreading, editing and uploading of features on Shopify prepared by guest authors. Consulting on and then choosing relevant imagery

· As required, writing product descriptions, and updating written content on all websites

· Representing The Magazine at monthly marketing meetings, helping support commercial strategies with content ideas

Background:

As one of the UK’s leaders in this sector, Geckota’s business has continued to grow over the past few years, and we now have several brand names and websites, the most prominent being WatchGecko and ZULUDIVER. Significant commercial and informative elements of the company are our online Watch Magazine, which attracts over 100,000 international readers per month, and our YouTube Channel which produces high quality watch related videos.

An interest in watches and the wider watch world will be a distinct advantage to any applicant. It is vital that a genuine passion for the subject comes through in our creative writing and video work. We believe someone with a firm interest in the subject will be best placed to deliver that.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a reliable, honest, and determined individual to get a foot into the exclusive watch industry and will give exposure to all aspects of online magazine and video production where creativity and continuous learning is encouraged.
