Job description
Arrive punctually at the beginning of your shift, and to lock up and secure the premises on leaving.
Ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the Practice.
Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow-up appointments.
Using your own judgement and communication skills to ensure that patients with no prior appointment but who need urgent consultation are seen in a local and non-disruptive manner.
Explain Practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover and ensure procedures are completed.
Assisting potential patients with the completion of new patient registration forms and other forms when necessary
Ensure all new patients are registered onto the computer system promptly and accurately.
Receive and make telephone calls as required and direct patients appropriately. Divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery.
Enter requests for home visits onto the computer system ensuring careful recording of all relevant details and where necessary refer to Duty Doctor.
Advise patients of relevant charges for private services, accept payment and issue a receipt for the same.
Book ambulances for patients as requested by the Doctors
Informing patients of test results as and when appropriate.
Monitoring patients in the waiting room and ensuring the area is kept safe and tidy.
Any other duties appropriate to the position which may reasonably be determined by the Partners or the Practice Manager.

Part-time hours: 25 per week
Salary: £10.42 per hour

Experience:
- Medical Receptionist: 1 year (preferred)
