Job description
The Coxswain will be a member of a flexible duty watch Mooring Team operating a Pilot Transfer launch and Line Handling workboats out of Sheerness, and will be expected to operate company vessels efficiently and safely in carrying out the required functions, i.e. Pilot transfer, vessel mooring operations, safety boat duties, Harbour debris collection, and crewing on any other vessel for which you are trained. The Coxswain is also required to be an integral part of the shoreside Mooring Team for vessel movements that do not require boat work.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work as part of a team mooring ships in and around the Port of Sheerness
- Drive a company vehicle for the purpose of transporting yourself and other colleagues to a work site.
- Operate company floating plant from any location
- Routine maintenance work
- General housekeeping of launch and accommodation
- Maintaining log books and safety records
- Refuelling launch / workboats with full environment protection
- Responding to incidents afloat as directed by Port Control
- Maintain and update knowledge of operational practices and equipment
- Undertake any other duty as deemed appropriate by your Operations Manager, where trained to do so
The successful applicant must be flexible with working hours as this is an ad-hoc zero hours contract, full training will be given and you will have the chance to progress within the company.
