Job description
BBC Wales News and Current Affairs is looking for an Economics Editor to lead our journalism in an area we know is of huge importance to our audiences. This is a new role in our Specialist team, which we will expect to deliver journalism with relevance and impact at a time when coverage of economic issues is more important than ever.
This challenging and exciting role requires excellent knowledge of economic issues, including in a Welsh context, combined with the ability to communicate complex concepts in understandable and accessible terms. You’ll be expected to commit to, and deliver on, our digital priorities, as well as appearing regularly on our television and radio services. You’ll find and deliver stories with impact and provide insightful analysis on a range of economic matters.
Are you the right candidate?You’ll have an exceptional grasp of economic issues and a track record in covering stories in a creative and impactful way. You’ll have an understanding of the importance of digital in ensuring our journalism reaches the widest possible audience, including those audiences the BBC finds it hard to reach. You’ll have proven your ability to present and report with assurance in a range of settings and you’ll have experience of taking high-level editorial decisions. As a senior figure in the Newsroom, you’ll be a role model for the BBC’s Values and Behaviours and will be expected to work towards our strategy of Value for All.
