Job summary

AGENT is a multinational project involving funded by the European Commission, involving many of Europe’s leading seedbanks. Focused on the critical crop species wheat and barley, it aims at understanding plant genetic resources genomically, improving our knowledge of the material within the collections to support the selection of material for breeding and research.

As part of AGENT, we will sequence historic herbarium material held at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, which will further our understanding of the live material held in the banks.

Job description

We are seeking to hire a technician to prepare material for sequencing, utilising our recently installed facilities for working with ancient DNA.

Person specification

Applicants should have a degree in a relevant research field (e.g., molecular biology, biochemistry, microbiology, agricultural sciences), experience with molecular laboratory techniques (e.g., DNA isolation, RT-qPCR, genomic library preparation) and experience of working within a research laboratory.
