Job Title: Minister of Religion (Men’s Fellowship)

POST: Men’s Fellowship Director

Department: Men’s Directorate

Salary: 18,000 – 20,000 per annum

Hours: Full time – 37.5 Hours.

City of Zion Cambridge growing Pentecostal Christian organization that seeks to employ religious workers as demands for the ministry increase. The candidates must be born Again and have experience in Pentecostal ministry.

Our mission in the UK engages, equips and involves people from a wide spectrum. Our church vision is reaching out to the nations, setting the captives free, changing lives and raising champions.

We have a number of projects including, help for the homeless, youth, education and training. Our constituency encompasses people from different backgrounds, race and ethnicity. But the dominant groups are of BAME (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic).

Job Purpose

To administer and motivate the Men’s Fellowship Department in a manner that will result in growth, maturity and stability of the men of the church. Major focus will be placed on organizing Spiritual, Social, and Family oriented programs for the men of the church. In focusing upon these, you will accomplish the main task of the Men’s Fellowship department which is to build leaders that God can use for his kingdom.

JOB DESCRIPTION / DUTIES:

  • Oversee and supervise all operations of the Men’s Fellowship Department under the direction of the Pastor. Shall seek to implement all given duties with tact, zeal, and love.
  • Manage and supervise the Men’s Prayer meeting to be held monthly.
  • Shall work with the Pastor in developing a plan to promote and encourage attendance to the Men’s Prayer meeting.
  • Coordinate all projects and activities that are undertaken by the Men’s Fellowship (Fundraising, Outings, Church Projects, etc.)
  • To work with the Pastor to plan several men’s outings during the year to help strengthen the unity of the men and provide opportunity for them to invite an unsaved friend.
  • Shall work with the Maintenance Department to schedule periodic Work Days on Saturdays to keep the facility in good repairs
  • To schedule quarterly Men’s Prayer Breakfasts to be accompanied with solid instruction on the responsibilities of men in the church. All instruction will be provided or approved by the Pastor.
  • To work with the Pastor and Women’s directorate to plan an annual Family and Marriage Week.
  • Organise and promote an annual Father-Son barbecue or campout. To include an “Adopt-a-Son” program for those with out sons/fathers.
  • To work closely with the New Convert Care ministry to involve all new convert men in the activities and programs of Men’s Fellowship. Should make a special effort to insure that all new convert men have a special invitation from you for all activities.
  • Work with the Pastor to encourage a “Family Devotion” time within each family possible. Shall promote Family Devotions within the church by all available means.
  • Shall be responsible for keeping the Pastor informed and obtaining permission when necessary as to dates and projects of the Men’s Fellowship.

PERSON SPECIFICATION & ATTRIBUTES

The minister will be someone who has a personal devotion to Jesus and is committed to both the teachings and traditions of the Pentecostal church. The post holder must be:

  • Able to articulate and share his/her personal Christian faith
  • Must be filled with the Holy Ghost.
  • Must meet the qualifications for church membership
  • Must be a lover of the souls of Men.
  • Committed to a team approach to ministry and able to provide clear direction when delegating responsibilities
  • Able to work without direct supervision and willing to act with self-initiative

Personally mature with a professional manner

  • Willing to work within the context of the whole parish, addressing complex or menial tasks that may be shared by all staff, lay ministers, or volunteers
  • Intellectually capable and willing to pursue additional study and professional/spiritual development.
  • Able to relate to men in the context of the current culture, with unflinching faith.
  • Dedicated to working with the pastorate and leadership team to fulfil the mission and vision of the parish
  • Committed to the growth of the church

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATION

The minister must;

  • Must have overseen men’s ministry in The Redeemed Christian Church of God for at least 2 years.
  • Be knowledgeable in the word of God and in the doctrines of the Redeemed Christian Church of God.
  • Must have been a member of The Redeemed Christian Church of God for at least 2 years and must have RCCG worker’s certificate of recognition.
  • Have good computer skills in Microsoft office suit.
  • Education at degree level in a course studied in the United Kingdom to demonstrate familiarity with the way of life in England.
  • Experience leading and or working in a predominantly Black Afro-Carribean and Asian Ethnicity church setting.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATION

  • Demonstrate good organizational, planning, and communication skills (including listening skills)
  • Have strong interpersonal skills, ability to manage conflict resolution and problem solving.
  • Keen interest in bridging the gap between the church and the Men in local community.
  • Theological Training at Diploma or degree level.
  • For those without formal qualification in Theology, they must demonstrate a willingness to undertake training as organised by the Parish.

Organizational Relationships

The Men’s Fellowship Director is responsible directly to the Pastor. Each year, the Pastor and Men’s Fellowship Director will review this Job Description, update and improve to make more applicable to the position. Accountability shall consist of a monthly report of all activities and upcoming events. The director shall be responsibility for all interdepartmental staff and personnel.

The director shall work closely with all departments, but especially with Women and Youth directorates. Evaluation of performance of this position shall be performed by the Pastor on an annual basis.
