REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
The overall purpose of the role is
- Appointment under Mining Regulations 2014
- To assist the Electrical Engineer and Electrical Team Leader in the day to day discharge of his duties including that of daily personal supervision of personnel in a geographical area (District) defined on the Mine Plan
- To undertake these duties and responsibilities in a safe and economic manner in compliance with mining legislation, company policy and Managers Rules
Role Accountabilities
- Carry out electrical work out at the mine
- At all times to know who is involved in ongoing / planned works
- Promotion of Positive safety culture
- Accident/Investigation to Root Cause and implementation of containment/countermeasures within area of command
- Deploy craftsmen and resources to meet the requirements of the Mine Safety Management system and Safety Plan
- Assist and carry out the installation of out bye services and rock handling equipment installation/move ups to efficiently support production operations
- Assist and carry out the installation of district services
- Assist and carry out the installation of District electrical and ventilation schemes in accordance with Mine plan
- Assist and carry out the planning and preparation of mine maintenance to minimise downtime
- Ensure energy consumption is minimised through optimised running (pumps and ventilation)
- Ensure Mobile Plant is fuelled in accordance with Managers Rules
- Ensure compliance with Rock Quality and safety Procedures
- Support delivery of the F Matrix Plan to deliver identified improvements.
- Assist in the application of low level FI tools (Quick Kaizen, EWOs) to identify Root Causes of problems effect performance improvements
- Ensure personnel are deployed to progress and sustain TPM activity.
- Assist electrical contractors working in the mine
- Ensure electrical equipment and spares are stored and accounted for
Required Experience and Qualifications
- Candidates must have undertaken a recognised electrical apprenticeship and would ideally have an HNC or equivalent
- Experience of LV and HV systems and associated Permits to Work would be an advantage.
- An understanding of PLC and SCADA control systems would be helpful.
- Experience of participation in continuous improvement projects.
- Coming from a mining background would be advantageous but not essential.
- Trained and competent with requirements of the Electricity at Work regulations,
- The 18th Edition Regulations and the Use of Electricity in Mines would be ideal.
