Raising awareness of mental health in young people has never been more important, with one in six young people now reported to have issues with their mental health.
Bromley, Lewisham & Greenwich Mind have secured funding to expand our ‘Minds Up’ schools mental health, wellbeing and resilience project. The focus of the programme is to enable young people to understand what mental health is; to recognise that they have mental health and need to take care of it; to discover ways to protect their wellbeing and ask for help when needed.
We are looking for a new Trainer to deliver Minds Up workshops in secondary schools primarily in Greenwich borough, with some potential work in Bromley and Lewisham boroughs. The role holder will deliver training across years 7 to 13 in designated secondary schools, encouraging healthy debate and interaction around mental health and wellbeing. The role will also assist in facilitating monthly sessions with the Minds Up Youth Advisory Board.
Ideally with experience of working in school settings, you will be confident in training young people around mental health and wellbeing, with a good understanding of mental health issues and how they impact on people’s lives.
You must be well organised and adaptable in terms of developing course content, since this may vary depending on the audience. There may also be times when co-delivery of training sessions is appropriate.
Applicants must be flexible as this post will involve some travel across Bromley, Lewisham and Greenwich, and working hours may vary.
