Job description
The University is currently looking for an experienced, committed and enthusiastic technician to support the microbiology and microscopy facilities as well as some input to the biomedical sciences laboratories. This will involve providing instruction and practical support on the specialist techniques to use when experimenting with microorganisms including their growth, identification and manipulation.
About you
You will be able to demonstrate practical knowledge of working in a Microbiology laboratory and expertise in using a variety of microscopes.
As an excellent communicator you will be able to explain technical issues to those less experienced. You will have a proven ability in providing high quality, customer focused technical support and technical demonstrations in either a higher education or professional environment.

There will be an opportunity to work with expert practitioners with the possibility of training in methods used in our accredited Biomedical Sciences program.
The skills and experience you will need to be successful.
An honours degree in Bioscience or similar discipline plus significant experience in preparing microbiological media, growing microorganisms, isolating and identifying them using various techniques including microscopy as well as biochemical tests.

This is a full-time campus -based role for 12 month fixed term maternity cover.
