We are seeking candidates to join our Microbiology laboratory team in Aberdeen. You will be responsible for the timely and high-quality production and packing of microbiological media for specific client orders, stock, or in-house use within the Intertek laboratories. Further, assist in the efficient day-to-day operation of the laboratory. Experience within a laboratory environment would be an advantage, but full training is provided.

Key Requirements:
- Maths, English and a Science related subject at National 5 or equivalent level
- IT literate to include a good level of skills in MS Office software
- Flexible approach to working hours
- Previous experience in laboratory operations would be advantageous
About The Opportunity
The Media Technician is responsible for the timely and high-quality production and packing of microbiological media for specific client orders, stock, or for in-house use within the Intertek laboratories.
The role works as part of a small team to ensure all such orders are completed accurately and efficiently and to the assigned deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Media and diluent manufacture as per prescribed procedures and recipes
- Packing and labelling of all manufactured media/diluents
- Perform QC checks on all manufactured media/diluents
- Perform weekly stock checks in conjunction with the Analytical & Manufacturing Supervisor for raw materials and provide details to Stock Controller for ordering
- Prepare daily calibration checks as detailed in procedures, highlighting any discrepancies to Analytical & Manufacturing Supervisor
- Manage and maintain equipment in good working order and report any defaults or maintenance required
- Ensure that all work is delivered on time bringing any potential delays to the attention of the Analytical & Manufacturing Supervisor
- Store all equipment, media and chemicals in a methodical manner and under the required conditions
- Ensure all relevant paperwork, spreadsheets and quality records are completed correctly
- Maintain high level of cleanliness within the laboratory with both daily and weekly schedules
- Act accordingly to maintain a performance culture in the media preparation lab that is focused on exceeding customer expectations
