The Role
Reporting to the Technical Director, the role of a MetOcean Technician is primarily to complete annual maintenance or fault-finding/installation/commissioning of safety critical meteorological and oceanographic systems onshore and offshore globally. Effective maintenance of the hardware and software assists in the safe operation of helicopter flying, vessel movements and crane operations.
While onshore there is a requirement to work within the office and workshop on sensor testing and repair and assist with project management and commissioning work.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain offshore weather systems to CAP437 or applicable local standards globally
- Install and commission new offshore weather systems
- Meet quality and production standards, and adhere to ISO9001:2015 quality system
- Ensure all operations are carried out in line with Nevis Technology’s procedures
Experience:
- Previous experience with metocean sensors or similar instrumentation is desirable, but not essential as full training will be given
- Experience in servicing, installation and inspection of equipment, sensors or instruments in an industrial environment
- Good knowledge and understanding of electronic/electrical/instruments and software systems
- Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel (essential)
Education and Training:
- ONC/HNC qualifications in electronics/electrical/instruments, or relevant industry experience
- Offshore certification (MIST, BOSIET, CompEX, Working at Heights) is desirable
Job Requirements:
- Available to travel offshore, primarily to North Sea locations but including overseas work
- Capable of working at heights
- Proficient in reading and comprehending schematic engineering drawings
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work independently and with minimum supervision in a very demanding and varying environment
- Excellent health and safety awareness
