Title: Brazer
Reports to: Team Leader, Manufacturing
Location: 24 Napoleon Road - Barrie, Ontario
Wage: $ 21.10/hr.
Job Purpose:
Reporting to the Team Leader, Manufacturing the Brazer is responsible to safely produce the required quantity and quality of parts, in a timely efficient manner by filling holes, indentions or seams of metal products using hand held flame-cutting, hand soldering and brazing equipment.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Work from verbal or written instructions
- Align and secure work pieces in fixtures, jigs or vise using rule, square or template
- Remove completed parts stacking them in a safe manner
- Set up and braze a variety of different lengths, shapes and sizes of tubing
- Perform regular quality checks during production runs including pressure testing
- Correct selection of torch tip, flux and brazing alloy from data charts and work orders
- Control flow of gas adjusting values to obtain desired colors and size of flames
- Smooth soldered areas with alternate strokes of paddles and torches
- Set intensity and duration of ultrasonic impulses according to work order specifications
- Adjust electric current and timing cycles of resistance to bonding temperature
- Examine seam and rebraze defective joins or broken parts
- Complete work orders filling in the time spent and the quantity of parts completed
- Complete tags showing the location for finished parts
- Maintenance of brazing equipment and machinery
- Maintains a clean and organized work area in accordance to 5S principles
- Continue to grow Lean knowledge and use the tools to identify and assist with continuous improvement to product and processes
Education and Experience:
- Must have a High School Diploma or equivalency
- Must have a minimum of six (6) months of brazing techniques and materials experience
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is considered an asset
- Able to work from verbal and/or written instructions with minimal supervision
- Measuring skills using equipment like tape measures, verniers, and calipers
- A good understanding of different metals and metal thickness
- Must be able to recognize the temperature of the copper by the colour and be able to apply the correct amount of solder
