The Opportunity

Are you a passionate people person who can help others overcome barriers by providing intensive, personalised support that leads to sustained positive change?

We are looking for Mentors for our Places for People project, which supports households across Edinburgh City, West Lothian, Midlothian, and East Lothian.

Working with Housing Officers, you’ll offer in-home support and relational mentoring to new tenants to help them manage all aspects of their tenancy. This may include mental health, addiction, finances, training/education and behaviour change. You’ll do this by working with householders to identify short, medium, and long-term needs that will lead them to sustain their tenancy by providing a holistic approach that helps them achieve this.

Tenants will have their needs assessed by the mentor regularly through documented engagement, outcomes and KPI’s. Therefore, knowledge of IT and Microsoft packages is required. Having local knowledge of support services to link in within the area would also be desirable.

This highly rewarding role is suited to someone ambitious to transform lives who has excellent verbal and written communication skills. A people-centred approach is essential as you will build relationships with customers and communities. You must also be compassionate and resilient to support your customers through challenging
circumstances.
