Mental Healthcare Support Worker
Salary £10.20ph plus enhancements for nights, weekends and Bank holidays
What does a Mental Healthcare Support Worker do?
As a Mental Healthcare Support Worker you would be supporting and assisting our nurses in delivering care to our patients. Each patient has a ‘Care Plan’ that is tailored to meet their needs and support their recovery. A typical day may include:
- Provide practical support to patients who require assistance with intimate personal needs such as dressing and bathing for example
- Observe and monitor the wellbeing of patients reporting any unusual physical, mental or emotional occurrences to the senior staff
- Engage with patients, for example escort them on leave
- Participate in regular ward meetings
- Develop and maintain good professional relationships with patients, colleagues and visitors
What qualifications do I need?
Previous experience in a healthcare setting would be an advantage but not essential as full training will be given.
What training will I receive?
The first 2 weeks will be dedicated to getting you trained up to work on the wards. This includes a welcome from the senior management team and tour of site on your first day as well as training in observations and boundary setting, safeguarding and RRIT (Reducing Restrictive Intervention Training). Training is an on-going commitment and you will be supported at each stage.
What are the shifts?
Full time hours are 37.5 hours per week, which conventionally works as 3 long shifts every 3 weeks and 4 long shifts in the 4th week.
We also have part time opportunities available too.
What are the salary enhancements?
- Monday to Friday 22:00PM – 6:30AM 20% of hourly rate
- Saturday All Day 20% of hourly rate
- Sunday All Day 50% hourly rate
- Bank holidays All Day 50% hourly rate
