The Gravers Care Home is expanding and are therefore we are looking to increase our staffing team. The Gravers is split into 2 services near each other. One is a residential setting called The Gravers and the other is a supported living service called Feversham Lodge.
The Gravers supports working age adults with mental health and/or learning disabilities. We offer a homely environment for 21 adults. Are mission is to support individual to reach their maximum potential. Some of the residents at The Gravers Care home now have physical needs due the lock down. There is some personal care involved in the role and manual handling tasks such as manoeuvring people in wheelchairs and using a host. It is important that our resident remain as independent as possible and therefore we do not deskill people, we work with the individuals to be came as independent as possible working on rehabilitation skill. We also work with our residents to over come traumas/ difficult times in their past that has led to struggles with their mental health. We believe that the future is theirs, and it can be whatever they want it to be and therefore try to work with our residents to over come the past to prevent it from ruining their future.
Feversham Lodge is a therapeutic community. The tenants that live their have their own tenancies. The tenants there are all very independent but require the staff to be around to help maintain this. It is also a fun environment with a lot going on. The staff that support these tenants work together with the tenants to ensure that the environment remains a therapeutic environment. The tenant’s meal plan together, shop together, clean together and cooked for each other. The service is staffed 24/7 and has a sleep-in staff each night.
The tenants and the residents at The Gravers and Feversham Lodge are empowered to take charge of their life, taking an active role in the decisions around their care. These services are the residents/tenants’ homes and therefore it is essential that these service remain a happy upbeat place for people to live.

The Support worker role is a rewarding role, Care staff get to spend quality time with our residents going on holidays, shopping trip, day trips, encourage in house activities, going for coffee, etc as it is essential that our residents have purpose in their lives to help lift their sense of wellbeing which in turn has a positive impact on their mental health.
