Come and join our team at DNA Care Services. As a family owned and run business, we help our customers deliver care to children with Autism, Mental Health needs, Learning Disabilities and Brain Injury’s. Due to expansion, we are looking for caring Health Care Assistants to join our dedicated team of flexible professional staff.
Experience in care is not essential however, a passion for ensuring the people we and our customers support have fun and fulfilled lives. It takes a caring, dedicated and flexible person to be a Health Care Assistant at DNA.
In this role, you will provide care and support for patients, whilst maintaining respect and dignity at all times. This is a varied role as you will be supporting patients in line with their care plans, so no two days will be the same.
Working environment can vary from secure hospital settings to community based placements, working with people with a broad range of mental health conditions and learning difficulties.
Community based work is supporting under 18's that have had intervention from social services in times of crisis in the home. This could be due to the complex needs and behaviours and the family requiring additional support, or cases where the family are not able to provide a suitable home environment for the child.
Duties include full time supervision and interaction with the child in your care maintaining their safety and wellbeing at all times. Being involved with activities in the home or community and ensuring the child is simulated. Due to the complex needs challenging behaviour can be encountered so successful applicants will need to be able to manage conflict and help de-escalate any situations that could result in challenging behaviours.
Driving license is a requirement for this role due to community outings, and applicants will be using their own vehicle. Business insurance is a must when using own vehicle in the community.
When working within secure settings, duties include carrying out 1:1 and 2:1 observations, and regular checks such as every 15 minute checks. Level of checks would depend on the risk level of the patient/s.
Successful applicants would also carry out daily activities with patients to help further their rehabilitation and integration back into the community.
Full B.I.L.D. accredited physical intervention training will be provided free of charge by DNA Care Services. This training is an integral part of working in a medium to low secure unit, and handling verbal and physical aggression that can sometimes be displayed by the patient type.

Salary: £11.00-£16.50 per hour
