Job description
We are currently recruiting for the position of Memorial Graphic Designer to work at group level designing memorials and producing creative for promotional print, signage and online and offline marketing for all of memorial trading companies.
Technical responsibilities
*
Design and production of memorial layouts for client approval
- Design and production of posters, booklets, brochures, etc. for promotion, advertising and information
- Occasional website design and layout
- Operation of plotter and production of designs into sand blast stencils
- Production of designs into photo blast films
Administrative functions
*
Quality control and checking of graphic design
- Liaison with production department and management of work in progress
- Scheduling and prioritising or design work
- Liaison with branches managers on design issues

Job Specification
The post holder will be responsible for receiving job specification sheet and producing a graphic layout of the memorial or commemorative plaque for approval by the client prior to production.
The post holder will open a memorial template from a library of templates or create a new template for a unique memorial. Vector illustrations / photographic designs may also be incorporated and these will need to be converted through scanning and rasterization processes into line art / black & white imagery.
The inscription will then be designed to include font choices, heights and spacing and layout to complement the memorial and any illustrations.
Once the client has approved the design work the post holders will be responsible for producing sand blast stencils for production.
Full training will be given on product materials, specifications and the appropriate layout process for memorial design.
From time to time it the designers duties will also include sign, brochure and advertising design for our other group companies. The business has gained an excellent reputation for the standard of graphic design work produced and the post holder will be expected to contribute to an ongoing programme of quality initiatives. There will be involvement in new methods of work management and analysis, new technology and service enhancement, and identification of sources of income generation.
The work is mainly computer-based and the post holder will have a comprehensive PC system for their use. Applicants must possess a sound knowledge of typography, PC systems and software as well as an interest in developing the system in a relevant manner where appropriate. They should be capable of working under their own initiative, as well us under the guidance and supervision.
The amount of time spent on different duties will vary on a daily basis due to workload and according to requirements. The post-holder will be required to be flexible in their duties to accommodate the companys workload demands.
- The software currently in use includes Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Corel Draw, Graphix Advantage and Microsoft Word. Other software packages are in occasional used.
