About Directorate

The Highways Service maintains one of the most valuable assets the Council owns, acting as a platform for social and economic prosperity. Enabling the undertaking of safe, reliable, and sustainable journeys while acting as the biggest Utility duct in the Borough as well as supporting emergency and response services. The Highways Service encompasses three integrated teams, Asset Management; Traffic Management & Compliance; and Performance, Programme and Innovation. Together they provide high quality and cost-effective highways and transportation management solutions, which are of real benefit to residents, business, and visitors to the borough, both now and into the future.

About the role

The post holder is responsible for developing and maintaining a high-profile service and establishing good working relationships with key stakeholders including Elected Members and MPs. The service is a prominent front-line service and receives a high volume of correspondence through various channels. The post holder will develop and maintain a high-quality complaints and casework management service.

The post holder will be responsible for managing a correspondence team, committed to improving Customer Service standards across the service, proactively identifying areas of weakness and improvements required to the service.

About you

  • Experience in identifying and resolving complex issues through to resolution
  • Excellent communication skills, verbally and in writing
  • Ability to produce and present performance reports and propose improvement where identified
  • Confident in managing conflicting priorities and pressures through effective decision making
  • Experience in working with elected members/MP’s/key stakeholders
