The Medicine Division at the Norfolk & Norwich Hospital has 3 x Trainee Management roles available within Respiratory, Gastroenterology and Neurology
You will be working in a fast-paced environment, whilst gaining skills and competencies from our dedicated development Framework. These roles aim to develop Trainee Managers who would like to pursue a career in management of the NHS. The role will focus on developing leadership and management skills whilst working alongside the departmental Administrative Manager to lead a team of Admin & Clerical staff.
As part of professional development, you will follow a Career Progression Framework competency and have four dedicated days a month to attend approved courses and development experiences during the role to provide you with the opportunity to develop a wide range of skills that are essential for a successful management career.

- To complete Career Progression Framework competencies and have four dedicated days a month to attend approved courses during the role to develop leadership and management skills via the NNUH training department.
- You will, with the Admin Manager: • Be responsible for the day-to-day leadership of diverse admin teams, including appraisals, training and supporting staff; managing sickness absence in line with HR policies; and the effective recruitment and induction of staff into the team.
- Ensure the smooth running of the department at all times.
- Ensure that all administrative processes run smoothly, safely and efficiently, adhering to any relevant policies and procedures.
- Monitor the administration needs of the service and actively seek opportunities to maximise efficiency, suggesting and implementing change within remit.

- To successfully complete all tasks and competencies as detailed in the Competency Progression Framework.
- To ensure adequate administration/ secretarial cover and monitor the staff workloads.
- To add patients from Outpatient Clinics to the Waiting List adhering to the Trust’s policies & procedures.
- To play a key role in the development and implementation of new policies and procedures within the Directorate, to overcome conflicts / lack of knowledge.
- Liaise with Consultants and Senior Nurse in the development of services e.g. bed booking, direct access, full booking of Pre-Ops and TCI dates (each speciality will not do all of these).
- To support the Administration Manager in overseeing the functioning of Day case and In-Patient Waiting Lists in line with Patient Access Policies, Procedures and targets set.
