Job Summary:
The Medical Editor (ME) is responsible for ensuring that medical education and communication materials are developed with a high level of quality relative to content, organization, clarity, accuracy, format, style, and consistency. Therefore, MEs are vital to the quality of the education and materials that CMEO produces. Medical Editors touch virtually every piece of text or graphic produced for our learners; therefore, having the eyes of a hawk and insight of a sage are core components to lead this team.

- None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Proofread and edit needs assessments and proposals across a wide range of therapeutic areas to various commercial supporters
- Create titles, expand agendas, wordsmith learning objectives
- Write copy for the statement of need CMEO activity description
- Review online components such as landing page and activity hubs
- Manage and create materials for live streamed and on-demand activities, including slides, course guides, additional learning resources
- Ensure the accuracy of all information, data and referencing for the publications/documents produced slide decks and associated deliverables for all activities and virtual hubs
- Create and/or recreate figures, graphs, and infographics
- Draft pre-post tests for activities
- Review faculty bios and disclosures
- Time code slides for permanent build
- Edit audio/video to ensure fluid faculty recordings
- Assist in faculty identification for activities
- Upload abstracts books and/or posters for annual meetings in assigned therapeutic areas
- Work on a variety of projects simultaneously
Required Skills/Abilities:
Examples:
- Thorough understanding of grammar rules and comprehension of medical, pharmaceutical, and scientific terminology
- Strong skills in time management, prioritizing, organizing, researching, and problem-solving, with attention to detail and ability to adhere to deadlines
- Knowledge of AMA style and FDA guidelines.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills;
- Ability to translate scientific and statistical data into graphic content
- Ability to ensure scientific accuracy by fact-checking all relevant copy;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook);
- An eye for visual and aesthetic balance as well as artistic ability to create appealing figures, graphs, and charts
- Stickler for accuracy and perfectionism—relentless attention to detail;
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to be diplomatic during high pressure/crunch times
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree (minimum) in a related field (e.g., English or Life Sciences) is required;
- 4/+ years’ experience in medical editing within a pharmaceutical agency or client setting preferred;
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
