Job Title: Support Medical Secretary

About the Trust

Stepping Hill Hospital is located on Poplar Grove Stockport, and it is easily accessible via both car and public transport. There is on-site parking (fees will apply). It has an on-site restaurant where staff are eligible for a discount. There is also a café where drinks and light snacks are available. There are also on-site shops and free Wi-Fi.

What you’ll be responsible for:

· Provide Typing support to the Pain Clinic.

· Register referrals from all sources on the patient administrative system (PAS),

· Telephone patients to offer appointment dates and times, in accordance with consultant prioritisation, Trust standards and NHS targets, using PAS and the national E-Referral Service systems to record appointments made

· Open mail, collate patient results and scan to electronic patient records.

The role will involve, but not be limited to you performing the above

You’ll learn the following whilst working at the trust:

· An in depth understanding of the roles and responsibilities involved in working within the NHS

· Knowledge of the systems used, to effectively complete your role to the highest standard at all times

· A sense of teamwork, gained through working alongside and supporting colleagues from all levels, within the organisation

You’ll have the following skills/experience:

· Excellent communication skills at all levels – written and verbal.

· Ability to work to tight deadlines.

· Knowledge of secretarial and administrative procedures and systems.

· Experience of audio typing.

· Use of NHS Patient Administration Systems. (Desirable)
