Medical Receptionist / administrator

Monday - Friday

8.30am – 6.15pm

Permanent, offering both part time or full-time hours (26.25 - 35hrs per week)

We may also consider applicants wishing to work afternoons only (12.30pm - 6.15pm)

We cannot consider applicants wishing to work mornings only.

£9.50 - £10ph dependant on experience

Job overview

Lister House Surgery is a friendly and purpose-built practice of 13,000 patients in Hatfield, Hertfordshire.

We are seeking a new receptionist/ administrator with excellent interpersonal, customer service and organisational skills to join our team. We are looking for someone that wants to commit to working with us and grow within the team.

The right candidate will have a methodical approach to fluctuating workloads and ability to work under pressure and as a team.

Previous reception experience in a GP/healthcare setting is desirable.

Job Responsibilities

· Key responsibilities and duties include:

· Managing appointment requests and booking appointments appropriately for patients

· Handling incoming and outgoing telephone calls to the surgery

· Processing repeat prescriptions according to practice policy

· Scanning and processing medical documents through SystmOne (clinical system)

· Completing tasks set by the practice manager and the doctors / clinicians

· Opening and closing front doors in line with opening times

· Greeting patients kindly and courteously

· Working as part of a team collaboratively with other team members

· Preparing the surgery, waiting area, consulting rooms in preparation for clinics

· Manning the practices email inbox

· To maintain a good rapport/relationship between internal and external customers of the Practice at all times.

· Effectively signpost patients to services appropriate to their needs

· Scanning and action the clinical correspondence as per GP instructions into the patients’ medical records

· Register new patients living within our catchment area

· Dealing with internal and external post

· Medical Records management (filing and pulling patient medical records).

You should be:

About the practice

We are a forward-thinking GMS practice with a list size of 13,000 patients, situated in modern purpose-built premises. We are CQC registered as good. The practice teams consist of GP partners, salaried GPs, registrars, nurses, reception, admin and PCN staff (physiotherapists, pharmacists, care coordinators and care home coordinators) who all have positive working relationships with one another.

We use TPP system one for our clinical system, however knowledge of this is desirable not essential.

You will be joining the reception team which is made up of 15 receptionists, including the reception manager and reception supervisor. The reception team is a highly valued part of our work force whose work and input help create positive outcomes for our patients.

We became a training practice in 2020 and actively encourage the learning and development of our team.

The practice team often like to do activities outside of work and most recently walked the 02 to celebrate a team members birthday!
